How do I get started?
Select one of the following contests below. Your choice…
DON’T JUST SIT THERE
Take a stand against tanning bed use. Find out what the existing tanning bed restrictions are for minors in your state then contact your local legislators urging them to protect minors from the serious health risks associated with indoor tanning. And/or submit an article to your town and school newspapers about the current tanning bed laws informing others about the dangers of tanning bed use and what you think should be done to keep your friends safe.
THE X FACTOR
Do you like to sing, play an instrument, are in a band or love to dance? Perhaps you’ve always wanted to organize a flash mob. Whatever you come up with, we want to hear your song about the dangers of tanning and associated risks of skin cancer and melanoma.
YOU’RE THE DIRECTOR
Have an idea about how to get others to stop tanning? Create a 30 or 60-second public service announcement (PSA) about the facts of tanning and risks of skin cancer and melanoma.

People who use tanning beds once a month before the age of 35 increase their melanoma risk by 75%.Tanning beds put out 3-6 times the amount of radiation given off by the sun.The World Health Organization has determined that UV rays from tanning beds cause cancer.Getting more sun won't increase your Vitamin D level, but it will increase your risk of skin cancer.Melanoma kills one person every 50 minutes. It's the second most common cancer for 15-29 year olds.
